Donald L. "Don" Hardcastle, 78, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden. He was born January 26, 1932 in Crescent, Utah, the son of William Hyrum and Ellen Selma Hyde Hardcastle. He married Charlene Bailey on April 22, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a veteran serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Don graduated from Jordan High School in 1951 and received his Associates Degree from Weber State College. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Taylor 2nd Ward. Don served in various positions, including Ward Clerk and Counselor in the Bishopric. He and his wife were Ordinance workers for many years in the Ogden Temple. They also served a Mission to the London England Temple. Don worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the Animal Health Division and retired after 42 years of service. He loved his hobby farm, and being with family. He enjoyed work and was always active and involved in one project or another. Anything he could do to help his kids made him happy. Surviving are his wife, Charlene of Taylor; children: Kim B. (LeeAnn) Hardcastle of Roy; Greg (Sally) Hardcastle of West Weber; Jennifer (Ramon) Arevalo of West Haven; Ryan (Brooke) Hardcastle of Ogden; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Blaine (Larna) Hardcastle, Noel (Lynda) Hardcastle, Craig (Kathy) Hardcastle all of Sandy. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Katie. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Taylor 2nd Ward, 4300 West 2200 South, Taylor. A viewing will be held Wednesday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the Church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
