MRS. BALDWIN IS TAKEN BY DEATH
Funeral to Be Held Tuesday for Widow of Former Minister.
Mrs. Alice Baldwin, 87, widow of the Rev. James W. Baldwin, former local minister, died at 2:30 o'clock Sunday morning at North Madison following an illness of 10 years. She was the mother of George Baldwin, local barber and Mrs. John Day, of 738 Sycamore street.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Flanigan, Reed and Hull funeral home with the Rev. Ray Bozell, officiating. Burial will be made in Kansas cemetery, near Camp Atterbury.
Friends may call at the funeral home where the casket will remain open until services in the morning.
Mrs. Baldwin was born in Boone county in January, 1860. She was Alice L. McClain before her marriage there in Nov. 1883. She and Mr. Baldwin celebrated their golden wedding anniversary here in 1933. Mr. Baldwin died in July, 1936.
Mr. Baldwin was a former sheriff of Johnson county before taking up the ministry in which profession he served 25 years before retiring and locating here. He was a Christian minister serving in both Johnson and Bartholomew counties.
She spent 20 years in Johnson county before coming here for residence the past 36 years. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of the Christian Union church.
In addition to the local son, survivors also include two other sons, James and Gail of Indianapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Day of this city, Mrs. Clarence Wiscoxson and Mrs. Charlene McGennes, both of Indianapolis; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Redman of Indianapolis, Mrs. Lee Lash and Miss Anna McClain, both of Franklin, 30 grand-children, 41 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Another brother preceded her in death two weeks ago.
