Mrs. Matthew Kirkwood Dies; Native of Kansas - Mrs. Matthew Kirkwood, 71, of 345 West Packard street, died in the Macon county Tuberculosis sanatorium at 8:50 a.m. today. She had been a patient in the sanatorium for the last five weeks.

She was born March 20, 1878, in Crawford County, Kan., a daughter of George and Harriett Huff. She was married Nov 3, 1898 to Matthew Kirkwood in Decatur.

She was a member of the Grace Methodist church; the Queen Ann chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Seattle, Wash.; Royal Neighbors camp 129, Decatur, and the Women’s Benefit association.

She leaves her husband; four sons, Harold of Seattle, Was.; Roy of Champaign, Eugene of Aberdeen, Wash., Charles of Decatur; two daughters, Mrs. Harriett Reed and Mrs. Dorothy Swan, both of Decatur; three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Murphy of Roberts, Mrs. Alma LaOrange of Great Bend, Kan, and Mrs. Mayme Hart of Chicago, and a brother, James Huff of Oreana.

The body was taken to the Monson’s funeral home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending the arrival of Eugene Kirkwood from Washington.
