Birth: Jan. 25, 1831
Death: Aug. 31, 1865
Adams County
Wisconsin, USA

From Adams County Historical Society: Wife of S.W. Pierce. Died on 31 August 1865. Aged 34 years, 7 months and 6 days. Transcriber's Note: The sexton's records state that this is lot number 30, which is owned by S.W. Pierce. Her maiden name was Hester A. Mosher. The following information is from an Adams County Newspaper, dated 1 September 1865: Died: Mrs. Hester Ann Pierce, wife of Lt. S.W. Pierce of this Village, on 31st day of August, 1865, aged 34 years and 7 months: The deceased was indeed as nearly "a perfect woman, nobly planned," as may be found on earth. So kind was she ever, so generous, truthful and good and so charitable in word, deed and thought, that this has often been truthfully said of her that there has never in the whole course of her life been any one known to speak ill of her. For several years she had been an invalid, and oftentimes a great sufferer and yet her fortitude and patience were such that scarce her most intimate friends would learn from herself of any unusual ill health. Though of excellent culture and large understanding, she was ever so modest and retiring, that our whole community could but admire her many virtues, and in her death, our entire people realized a great real loss of one of earth's richest and rarest blessings a true and righteous woman. Surely there are none who have lived more perfectly, nor one who in dying have "lain down to pleasant dreams" more peacefully. And from the death of her mortal part, there shall rise a blessed soul, beloved of God that shall eternally shine as one of the brightest jewels of immortality. Her last words were, as she bade adieu to her husband and family, "I shall soon be in a better place than this."
