Cyrus Wellington Saladee
was born in 1829 in Pa to Adam and Julia Mueller Saladee. He was the oldest of 7 children.
He was an inventor who held over 200 patents. One of which was a Saladee buggy and another the Texas Steam Plow.
He moved around alot and wore a Top Hat most of the time. He was highly intelligent and had a very eccentric personality.
He married was Elizabeth A Armstrong Sept 12 1850 in Ohio.

He married Abigail Chubb Chambers Dec 31 1874 in MO.
They had no children.

Col. C.W Saladee died from an overdose of morphine administered by himself. He was the inventor of linen collars, the index for playing cards, and other articles, numbering in all 200. The purchasers of his patents have all grown rich, and he too was immensely wealthy, but died in poverty. His widow was formerly Mrs. Chambers, wife of the Mexican and Confederate War General of that name. Colonel Saladee was an officer in the Confederate Army.

In this cemetery (they were talking about the Freeport City Cemetery) is the grave of one Confederate Veteran, C.W. Saladee who saw service with a Texas Regiment, an inventor who came to Freeport after the Civil War and was employed by the Henney Buggy Company.
