Dorothy Grant, 91, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, in Fort Worth. Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday with a vigil beginning at 4 p.m. at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Memorials: Susan G. Komen for the Cure , Attention: Donor Services, Box 650309, Dallas, Texas 75265; or Sisters of St. Mary of Namur, 909 W. Shaw, Fort Worth, Texas 76110.

Dorothy Marie Albright Grant was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Longview to Albert and Minnie Albright. She attended Incarnate Word College in San Antonio for one year and worked in positions for the federal government in Washington, D.C., and Dallas. She met Scott Grant on a blind date in Dallas and they were married Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1943, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas. She was a member of St. George, St. John the Apostle and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic churches. With her husband, Scott Grant, she started Grant Insurance Agency from their home in 1952. She retired in 1995 at the age of 76 but remained active in the agency, still coming in most days until her death. She gave generously to good causes and was a model of independence and a good work ethic. Dorothy was very caring and was loved by all who had the good fortune to know her. A special thanks to all the staff and nurses of Plaza Neuro ICU, Kindred Southwest, Dr. Paul Kim and nurse Faye and Dr. Frood Eelani.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Scott Grant, and her parents.
