Mrs. Cecil (Lavera) Thomas

Mrs. Cecil (Lavera) Thomas, 64, Ionia, died Tuesday morning at the Floyd County Hospital.

Services for Lavera Thomas will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Rev. Vernon Sorensen, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at Marble Rock. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Lavera Dorothy Vandeventer Thomas was born March 24, 1919, at Nashua, the daughter of Ernest and Grace Naber Vandeventer. She receive her education in the Nashua schools and on May 5, 1937, she and Cecil Thomas were married at Cotter, Arkansas.

Surviving is her husband, Cecil, Ionia, two daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Judy) Caruth, Lourdes and Mrs. Junior (Donna) Jones, Elaine, Ark.; two sons, Robert, Charles City and Cecil, Jr., Ionia, her mother, Mrs. Grace Vandeventer, Charles City; five brothers, Howard Vandeventer, Springfield, Ill., Lloyd Vandeventer, Wichita, Kan., Elroy Vandeventer, Louisville, Ky., Edward & Raymond Vandeventer, both of Charles City; and two sisters, Mrs. Lula Schmidt and Mrs. Ivan (Lavernus) Friend, both of Charles City. There are 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters.
