He appeared in motion pictures in the 1930s and 1940s primarily in "Singing Cowboy" western movie roles, most notably in the films "The Singing Outlaw" (1937), "The Last Stand" (1938) and "The Phantom Stage" (1939). After making 25 movies, he soured on Hollywood, and believed hos career as mistreated by studio executives. he retired from the movies and settled in Camp Verde, Arizona, where he became a policeman and later ran for the sheriff of Yavapai County. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he died of stroke in a Veterans Administration Hospital in Prescott, Arizona at the age of 64. (bio by: Frank Jasinski)
