Dorothy Marie Dickens, 78, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2010, at Aldersgate Village. She was born on April 20, 1932, in Lawrence County, Allison Township, Illinois, to William Bryan and Omerine M. (Brissette) Goodwin.

Dorothy graduated from Washburn University with a masters degree in social work. She was a social worker for several nursing homes throughout Topeka.

She was a past member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Karen Caldwell of Topeka; Michael Dickens of Ballwin, MO; Catrina Tarshis of Chicago, IL; a sister, Betty Lowe of California; a brother, Bill Goodwin of Illinois; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Warren and her son Bryan.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14, at Mount Hope Chapel. Entombment will follow. Mrs. Dickens will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. on Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
