Michael Holland is a brickwall in my ancestry. His name has also been found spelled Hollanard, Holloren and Hollan. He married Elizabeth Duesler Heath Dec 8, 1844 and lived in Ephratah, NY. Little else is known about him. Michael Holland was living with the family in 1850 census aged 60 with 3 children including Nancy b.1847 not listed below. He is listed as Irish and in the Ephratah, NY records at one point he is listed as Ireland Markell Holland which is incorrect. What they meant to transcribe was Michael Holland from Ireland. He is not shown on the 1855 NYS census with the rest of the family so it is possible that by 1855 he had died. His wife Elizabeth Duesler was first married to Nathaniel Heath or Daniel Nathaniel Heath with whom she had 4 children. A marriage record was found from the Reformed Dutch Church at Fort Plain, Montgomery, NY showing Michael Hollanard marriage to Elisabeth Heath on 08 Dec 1844. This is probably him but again the name is not quite right. I have now found a John Holland b. 1772 from County Down buried in the Colonial Cemetery in nearby Johnstown - see findagrave #55867457 who could be a relative but no connection has been found. He owned a large tract of land at one time but then lost it to a sherif's sale.
We are researching the Holloran name such as #78594602 Michael Holloran who lived in Mayfield and died in 1892. Perhaps he was a relative.
In the 1855 NY census Ephratah death records there is a listing for a 63 year old male who died in December 1854 who was a farmer and died with enlarged heart. No name was given but this could have been him because his wife is listed as a widow that year. If this is him it could give him a birth date of Jan 1791. More research is needed.
