Sales Manager and Treasurer For the Steadley Company

Underwent Surgery Monday

R. P. Steadley, 62, prominent Carthage resident and salesmanager and treasruer of The Steadley Company, died suddenly this afternoon in Rochester, Minnesota, where he
underwent surgery Monday.

Mr. Steadley had been vacationing at his summer home at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota with Mrs. Steadley and his daughter, Mrs. J. F. Irish, and her small daughter. He is said to have gone to the Mayo Clinic shortly before he underwent surgery. Kent D. Steadley, president of The Steadley Company, and brother of R. P. Steadley, had not been informed this afternoon as to whether the body will be sent to Carthage.

Mr. Steadley is a son of the late F. W. Steadley, one of the pioneers in the development of the Carthage marble industry. [Step-mother], Mrs. F. W. Steadley now makes her home at the Drake.

Private services were held in Minneapolis, MN
