No Dates - Only Military Stone on Grave - 86th Ind Inf

SAW DEATH NEAR - Realizing that his illness was serious, John W. Cosby, of Stockwell, came to Lafayette yesterday morning on the Big Four train and went to St. Elizabeth hospital. He walked into the institution and told the sisters that he desired to be treated for heart trouble. Soon after he went to bed he began to fail rapidly and his heart action became weaker and weaker until death came at 7:30 o’clock this morning. Mr. Cosby was born March 18, 1834, and served Company I, Eighty-sixth Indiana, Infantry, during the Civil War. He was a painter and was will known throughout the county. Five children survive. The body was taken to the home of a daughter, Mrs. J. Miller, 622 South Sixteenth street, to await interment.
