Mr. Harold D. "Denny" Luce, age 74 of the Belott community, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2000 at the East Texas Medical Center Crockett. Mr. Luce was born Jan. 9, 1926 in Houston County and had been a resident of this area for the past 12 years. He was a vetern of War World II and the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Navy. Mr. Luce was a teacher having taught in Weslaco and Splendora. He retired from teaching with the Elkhart ISD. Mr. Luce was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include wife Earline Luce of the Belott community; son Harold Luce, Jr. and wife Kathy of Pharr; daughter Dianne Taylor and husband Mike of Conroe; grandchildren Georgia Luce, Sara Luce, Michele Howard and husband Bill, Melissa Casey, Ryan Taylor and wife Argin; great-grandchildren Candis, Nicole and Bill Howard, Christopher, Cody and Caitlyn Casey; brother Billy Mack Luce and wife Doris of Moffitt; sisters Adelle Murphy-Jones and husband Harold Murphy of College Station, Susie Barkley and husband Perry of Fairfield; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Luce was preceded in death by father Gail Luce and mother Mary Lane Luce and also by sister Yvonne Shaver.

Funeral services for Mr. Luce were held Saturday, March 4 at 4:00 PM in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Mr. Mike Taylor officiating. Interment followed in the New Energy Cemetery.
