Ella Juanita "Juanita" Gillespie Stanley was the adopted daughter of Cel and Lavina (Pittman) Gillespie. She was raised an only child in the Gillespie Corners area (named for her father and uncle who both had farms across from one another) near Lorane. She attended Lane-Cedar School. Her ancestors were first-generation pioneers to Lane County in 1852.
Juanita Stanley died of age-related causes at age 83 in San Jose, California. She was survived by a son, James Martin of San Jose. Her funeral was held in that city but she was buried near her parents in McCulloch Pioneer Cemetery.
