Mrs. Trammell was born Feb. 18, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Scott Thomas and Ruby Oliver Gooden. She is also preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Smallwood, Arbutus Godfrey, Lucille Morris and Thelma Schools.
She was a retired dispatcher for IDM Trucking in Weyers Cave and was a member of Mount Olive Church of the Brethren in Pineville. She loved her family and did not know a stranger.
On Feb. 10, 1967, she married Garland L. "Doc" Trammell, Sr., who survives.
She is also survived by two sons, Alan Dale Trammell and wife, Dora, of Lacey Spring, and Garland L. "C.H." Trammell, Jr.; three daughters, Deborah Trammell Gooden, Donna Propst, Diann Trammell and partner, Cathy Edwards, all of Grottoes; six grandchildren; a step-grandson; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Scott Thomas Gooden, Jr., of Skyler; a sister, Elizabeth Huffer, of McGaheysville, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Dec. 4, 2010, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg with the Rev. Nona Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hahn Cancer Center, 2008 Health Campus Dr., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
