Charles Lee Davis, born August 31, 1865, died at 9:40 pm on Tuesday evening, Feb. 28, 1933, in the home of his daughter Mrs. Averill(Flo) Whetzel, of Palmer. At the time of death he was survived by his other daughter Mrs. Olive Rager of Vesta No. 6; and four sons, Fred, Ellie, Clyde Davis all of Palmer and David of Morgantown, WV. He was also survived by one sister Margaret Davis Koon and three brothers Joseph and Joel Davis of Brownsville and William Davis of Vesta No. 6. Funeral Services were conducted by Reverend David Hunter, Friday afternoon at 1:30 pm at Palmer Comm. Church in Palmer and Burial was at Fredericktown Cem. in Washington County near Bethlehem Twp., Wa. County Pa.
Charles was born in Jefferson Twp., Greene County PA. And he and his brother William McC.Davis went to Star City, West Virginia about 1890. There they met two sisters, Anna and Estella (Ella) Sarver, and they were married with in a few years of each other. Charles and Anna had three children: David H., Clyde E. and Olivette.
Charles lost Anna probably in child birth or shortly after in 1899. He is with the children alone in 1900 in Deemston Boro, E. Beth Twp., Wa. Co. PA.
In about 1906 Charles marries Rachel Bane and they have three children: Fred William, Charles Elliot and Flo Mariah Davis and they live where the coal mining work takes them..from Fredricktown Fayette Co., Centerville in Wa. Co. to Star City, W.V. which are all very close to one another. In 1930 Charles and Rachel move in with son Fred. In 1933 two years after Rachel's death Charles passes away at daughter Flo's House.
