On 27 May 1870, Benjamin F McClung, age 33, born in Rockbridge Co., VA to parents Benjamin and Mana McClung, married Sallie M Patterson, 22, born in Rockbridge Co., VA to parents Sam and Caroline E Patterson, born in Rockbridge Co., VA (Familysearch VA Marriage Register).
On the 1880 Walkers Creek, Rockbridge, VA census, I found miller and farmer, B F McClung, 43; other McClungs: wife Sallie M, 34; sons: Fenley W, 8 and Benjamin F, 6, all Virginia born.
On the 1900 Walkers Creek, Rockbridge, VA census, I found widowed flour miller BENJ F McClung, 63, born Feb 1837; McClung sons: Finley W, 28, Nov 1871; Benjamin F, 26, Nov 1873; John A, 13,July 1886 plus housekeeper Mary C RIley, 47 and servant Agnes Brown, 15, all Virginia born.
He was a Private in Company H., 14th Virginia Cavalry. Robert J. Driver Jr.'s book, 14th Virginia Cavalry, 1988, H.E. Howard Inc., Lynchburg, VA, page 156. He was born in Rockbridge County and died near Brownsburg in the same county. He was wounded in action in Gettysburg, PA and in Shepherdstown. He was a Miller and Farmer.
