Funeral services for Porfirio G. Ayala, 49, a retired longshoremen and member of local 1367 died early Tuesday at Mercy Hospital, were to be held at 4 pm today at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He resided at 214 W. Fronton St.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josefa Ayala; five sons, Porfirio Ayala Jr., stationed in the Army at Fort hood, Tex., Alberto, Estaban, Jose Luis, and Alfredo Ayala; a daughter, Mrs. Rose Mary Ayala; two brothers, Jose G. and Manuel Ayala; two sisters, Mrs. Josefina A. Butrion and Mrs. Maria A. Chornis; and a grandchild, all of Brownsville.
Burial was to be in the City Cemetery under the direction of Joe A. Besteire Funeral Chapel, then National Guard and the American Legion were to conduct graveside military honors.
