William H. Noble served a term in Congress, and so his memorial qualifies for
the "famous" listings if you want to add that.

I couldn't find any references to indicate that he had ever served as a judge,
so I suggest removing that title from his name.

I'm sure he died on February 5, and that his gravestone is wrong -- I found a
death notice in the February 11, 1850 "New York Evening Post" -- his death
couldn't have been reported on the 11th if it happened on the 15th.

I did put together a bio based on the details I did find. I've added these
details to Wikipedia, and I'll send them to the Historian of the US House. If
you want to make use of them, please feel free.

Regards,

Bill McKern

-----

US Congressman. He was educated in Connecticut and became a farmer and tanner.
He moved to Ballston Spa, New York, and later resided in several Cayuga County
towns, including Ira, Cato, and Auburn. Late in his life he became a resident
of Rochester. Noble served in local offices wherever he resided, including
school board member and school inspector in Ira, postmaster in Cato, town
supervisor of Auburn, and collector of canal tolls in Montezuma. He was also
active in local businesses, including serving on the board of directors of the
Cayuga County National Bank. He was elected to one-year terms in the New York
State Assembly in 1828, 1829 and 1830. In 1836 he was elected to the US House
as a Democrat, and he served one term, March 1837 to March 1839. He was an
unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1838. From 1843 to 1845 he was one of
the Inspectors of the state prison in Auburn.
