James Byrd left Tennessee between 1840 and 1850 with his son and daughter and migrated to Missouri by 1850.Much of the famuly history states that his wife was Nancy Carpenter 1800-1857.

My Aunt Vera Johnson Sinks, Grand daughter to Mary Polly Byrd Gunn Johnson and Joseph "Harrison" Johnson gave me this information on her Great-Grandmother, Nancy Carpenter Byrd. Nancy died when Mary Polly was young per family history while on the Trail of Tears going into Missouri. Nancy died in Green County, Missouri in 1939 (the only date we have. James and Nancy married about 1817 in Tenn. He married "Dicey" Lee 5 Mar 1843 and Elizabeth Teague 13 Feb 1957. My Aunt Vera will be 93 in July.
