Mr. Thomas died in Callahan County Hospital at 5 p.m. Tuesday after suffering a heart attack early Thursday morning. He had been in the hospital since Thursday of last week. A resident of Clyde for seven years, he had moved in 1943 to a farm just east of town. His home was partially destroyed by the tornado which struck Clyde April 28th. Born in 1878 in North Carolina, he moved to Tennessee while a young man. There he married Essie Jane Wilson. They came to Texas where he farmed in Erath county before coming to Abilene in 1934. He also farmed at Elmdale. He was married a second time - to Lavada Wilbanks of Abilene - following the death of his first wife. Mr. Thomas was a member of the First Baptist Church at Clyde.
