Manoah was the son of John Scribner and Mary Harriman Scribner. He had two brothers, Samuel and John. Manoah inherited a portion of his father's estate, and became one of the most prominant agriculturists of his day. He was a Revolutionary War soldier. He is recorded in the "Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots, Vol 4,p. Serial: 9661, Vol 7". He had two wives, Anna Taylor, who died in 1794, and Sarah Fitts, and fathered a total of 8 children.
