"Ruth was the baby of the family and lived only 5 years. She choked on a watermelon seed which lodged in her windpipe, and medical facilities being crude and scarce, and in fact none available at that time, they could do nothing for her and she passed away 26 October 1892 at Nephi, (Mesa) Maricopa County, Arizona. She is buried in the Mesa Cemetery."
