Mr. Brimhall, a Taylor native, also had served as principal of Mesa High, Irving Elementary and Lehi Elementary schools. He retired in 1969. Brimhall Field, Westwood High School's football field, was named for him.
He began his career in education as a principal teacher at Dos Cabezas and was there six years before joining the Mesa school system. He was active in Scouting, receiving the Silver Beaver award, and in civic affairs. He was a Lion.
Mr. Brimhall was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his wife, Marita; children, Marilyn Hales, Mocella Shumway, Marita Edwards, Dwayn and Rae; three brothers; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
