Mildred Fay "Mickey" McLarrin, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Nov. 27, at her Klamath Falls, Ore., residence, Eldorado Heights Assisted Living Community, after a short illness.
Mickey was born in 1922 in Klamath Falls to Charles and Sarah Seeds.
She married Walter McLarrin in 1938 and had two wonderful sons, Gregory born on July 4, 1939, and Douglas born on April 16, 1942.
The family moved to Algoma, Ore., in 1940 and shortly thereafter proceeded onto Coos Bay, where their second son was born. Mickey moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where she then lived for six years and became a nurse's assistant and traveled all over the state.
In 1969, Mickey moved back to Klamath Falls, where she worked at Merle West Medical Center as a nurse's aide and a laboratory phlebotomist. In 1971, she married her second husband, Ray Tebo. They moved to Okinawa, Japan, for 19 months. It was there that Mickey taught the English language to young children and the American way of cooking to the native Japanese women. Mickey then spent six years in Ketchikan, Alaska. Her favorite experience while in Alaska was riding the train on the narrow gauge railroad in Skagway. Mickey always stated that her heart was in Alaska.
She next moved to Vallejo, Calif., for four years. She got involved with teaching Sunday school to a group of 17 third-graders, who with her help, accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. It was a defining moment for her. She remembered how proud it made her that they had enriched their lives with him. Success to Mickey was anything to please her Lord. She also remembered passing out gospel tracks on the streets wherever she lived. She said that, while living in Japan, she would pass out Milky Way candy bars to the families to get them to let her into their homes to give them the tracks. They were appreciative of this kind act that she did for them.
Mickey's precious companion of 16 years was her dog, Lollipop. After the passing of Lollipop, she had another wonderful companion named Maggie. They both lived with her at Pelican Pointe Assisted Living.
Mickey led a wonderful life and gave so much of herself to others. She put many smiles on faces and warmth in hearts wherever she went.
Survivors include nine grandchildren and their families, as well as nieces and nephews in Klamath Falls and Medford and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mickey was preceded in death by her two loving sons, Gregory and Douglas McLarrin.
