Vaun "M" Bennett, 93, passed away April 5, 2004 in Delta. Born March 29, 1911 in Meadow to William Hyrum and Elizabeth Bushnell Bennett. Married Phyllis Lyle Talbot in Las Vegas, NV, December 23, 1935. Marriage solemnized in Manti Temple, November 13, 1954.
Spent early years in Meadow, attending school there and Fillmore. Helped father farming and tending sheep on Meadow Mountain. In 1940, purchased farm in Hinckley, and moved family there. Ran farm, worked for BLM, and did assessment work for Millard County. Later became Range Technician for BLM; retiring after 30 years.
Great horseman; taught sons art of training and working with horses. Loved spending time in outdoors with family: fishing, hunting, and horse racing. Took great pride in his yard, raising vegetables and flowers, including prize winning roses.
Faithful member LDS Church, serving various positions. Sang with the Desert Sentinels choir several years.
Survived by sons: DeLyle (Annette), Heyburn ID; Gale (Natalie), Hinckley; Klynn (Beverly), Rupert, ID; daughter: Beverly (Mervin) Prince, New Harmony; daughter-in-law: Marilyn, South Jordan; 22 grandchildren. 65 great-grandchildren. two great-great-grand-children. Preceded in death by wife: Phyllis; son: Phil; grandchildren: Richard Vaun Day and Kristine Day; great-grandchild: Kylie Ivy Turner; three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services Friday April 9, 2004, 11 a.m. at Delta West Stake Center in Hinckley. Friends call Thursday April 8, 7-8 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary in Delta and at church Friday, 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment Meadow Cemetery, 3 p.m.
