Death:	Mar. 4, 1945 Iwo Jima Tokyo Metropolis, Japan
United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant. War Correspondent. He filmed the raising of the second American Flag on Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945. Nine days after he filmed the flag raising, he was shot and killed by Japanese soldiers hiding in a cave. Because bulldozers sealed the cave his body was not recovered.
