Charles Allison was 21, and living in Wapello Co., Iowa, when he enlisted as a Private in Co. F of the 4th Iowa Cavalry on Oct 14, 1861. He was mustered into federal service on Nov 23, 1861.

Allison became a "Reenlisted Veteran" on Dec 12, 1863, along with most of his company. He mustered out of the service on Aug 8, 1865, in Atlanta with his company.

Allison applied for his pension on Feb 20, 1886. His application is #562,903, and his certificate #888,664.

Chas. Allison, Sr., died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Courtney, in Kirkville Tuesday evening, July 15th. The funeral will be held in Kirkville Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
