Surviving are his beloved wife, Marion (Eulo); sons, Michael F. and Mark A.; a daughter, Mary Ann Marks; a sister, Bernadine Stephens, and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Stencel, 82, died Sunday in the Hospital Center at Passaic.
A carpenter, he was employed with Carpenters Union Local 2110 in Newark for many years before retiring 20 years ago.
Mr. Stencel served in the Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Civil Defense and the Amateur Radio Society, both of Nutley, and the Citizens Band Club of Secaucus.
Born in Wyoming, Pa., he lived in Newark before moving to Nutley 46 years ago.
Funeral service at The S.W. BROWN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 267 Centre St., Nutley, on Thursday at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Nutley Volunteer Emergency and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 172, Nutley, N.J. 07110, would be appreciated.
