Ivor Novello
Birth: Jan. 15, 1893
Cardiff, Wales
Death: Mar. 6, 1951
City of London
Greater London, England

Composer, Actor. When not composing, he wrote comedies & dramas & starred in movies. He was considered one of the most handsome leads in silent movies. The lilac bush planted as a memorial to Ivor Novello. The words "Till you are home once more" (a paraphrase of the last line of his politically stirring "Keep the Home Fires Burning--1914) appear on the plaque in front of the bush. That song was the first hit for the classically trained Novello.

I grew up singing "Keep the Home Fires Burning" and it remains one of my favorite songs. Thank you for all the beautiful music, some brings tears, others a laugh but all touch the heart.
