ONE DEAD, TWO HURT IN CRASH

WRECK OCCURRED THIRD AVENUE CROSSING SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD

One man was killed and two seriously injured shortly before 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon when the car in which they were riding figured in a collision with the southbound Sunbeam passenger train of the Southern Pacific Lines at the intersection of East Third avenue. Robert Payne, aged 26 years, of Cryer Creek, was killed. Charlie Jordan, about 45, of Corsicana, sustained a broken jaw and cheekbone and other injuries. John A. Nicholson, 26, of Cryer Creek, brother-in-law of Jordan, suffered a broken collar bone, a badly hurt leg and other injuries. Nicholson and Jordan were taken to the Corsicana Hospital and Clinic in a Sutherland-McCammon ambulance. The exact extent of their injuries had not been determined at press hour. It was reported the car in which the three were riding was proceeding In an easterly direction; at the time of the accident. Payne's body was taken to the Sutherland - McCammon Funeral Home and prepared for burial. No funeral arrangements had been made early in the afternoon. Surviving are his wife, one child, Cryer Creek; father, Joe Payne, Blooming Grove; a, sister and other relatives. The train was in charge of J. H. Kent, conductor, of Houston, and was delayed here 20 minutes following the accident.

SECOND MAN DEAD AS RESULT CRASH TUESDAY AFTERNOON THIRD MAN CRITICALLY INJURED; FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS NOT COMPLETE Funeral arrangements for two victims of the collision Tuesday afternoon in which the crack Sunbeam, Southern Pacific Lines passenger train, and a car figured on East Third avenue, had not been perfected early Wednesday after- noon. It is expected the rites will be held Thursday or Friday, with burial in the Dresden cemetery. Robert Wylie Payne, 26, Cryer Creek farmer, died within a few minutes after the accident. Charles Robert Jordan, 45. Corsicana, died in the Corsicana Hospital and Clinic Tuesday night at 6:25 o'clock from injuries sustain- ed in the wreck. John A. Nicholson, 26. Cryer Creek farmer, is in the Corsicana Hospital and Clinic, suffering a broken left collarbone, head, leg and other injuries. He is regarded to be on the road to recovery. The automobile containing the three men was reported traveling in an easterly direction at the time of the accident, shortly be- fore 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The car was demolished. Surviving Payne are his wife, one child, parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Payne, Blooming Grove: a sister, Myrtle Payne. Blooming Grove; a half-brother. John Pullins, Blooming Grove, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Will Boyd Blooming Grove, and Mrs. Parker New Mexico. Surviving Jordan are his wife mother, Mrs. E. J. Jordan, Barry, five brothers, T. E. Jordan, Corsicana; Joe Jordan, Corsicana, A. E. Jordan, Blooming Grove, Lee Jordan, Dorchester; Hanks Jordan, Fort Worth; a sister, Mrs. J. W. Carroll, Blooming Grove and other relatives. The funerals will be directed by the Sutherland-McCammon Funeral Home.
