Composer, Motion Picture Producer. Academy award-winning film figure of the 1930s top the 1950s. Won three Oscars (Best music, scoring of a musical picture) for his work as musical director on "An American in Paris" (1951), "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" (1954), and "West Side Story," (1961), for which he also won a Grammy award. Father-in-law of director/producer Harold Prince. (bio by: A.J. Marik)
