Rudolph was an infant when he emigrated to the US from Germany with his family.
By 1888, Rudolph was a coachman in Cleveland, OH. In 1892, he began making cigars-a career he kept until at least 1907.
On 21 Feb. 1900, he married the widow "Minnie" Reppenhagen, nee Vietzen. Their daughter, Myrtle M. was born Dec. of that same year.
By 1911, Rudolf was back to being a motorman, which he did for several years until August of 1918 when, at the age of 51 years he enlisted in the National Army.
Now known as Robert, he completed training in Florida and was transferred to Fort Dix 2 Jan 1919-probably because he was ailing. He died two days later from "chronic endocarditis". The Army "Notified Minnie White, wife, 7309 [8] Hecker Ave., Cleveland" [Army notes from "Ohio, Roster of Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines in World War I, 1917-1918"
