According to Elizabeth's widow's pension Jonathan was in Co. D 24th regiment of GA volunteers during the civil war. He was wounded at Chancellorsville, VA on or about May 3, 1863 and died approximately 2 weeks later after having his leg amputated. Burial place unknown at this time.
