OBITUARY

"Henry S. Bennett, 63 years of age, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cam Smith of Shannon, Monday of this week. Mr. Bennett was selling fruit trees in that section of the county, when he was taken ill with pneumonia and was never able to be brought home. Funeral services were conducted by Elder L. S. Craven, and the remains were buried in the Masonic Cemetery Tuesday morning. The deceased was born in Buffalo, Missouri in November 1852"

"He moved to Randolph County and settled in Warm Springs in 1883, and has since resided in this county."

"He leaves a wife and nine children namely Essie Smith, Jesse Bennett, Birdie Gentry, S. D., Myrt, Arthur, Walter, Evans and Mitt Bennett. All the children are here except Jesse who lives in California. He was, for many years, a Justice of the Piece" (sic) "in Warm Springs, and was well respected by all who knew him. He was a consistent member of the Christian Church."

NOTE - The month and year of his birth - mentioned in his obituary (above) is incorrect. He was actually born on October 21, 1855, in Ripley County, Missouri. That is according to his 1900 census record (Oct 1855) and family records (Oct. 21, 1855). And his other census records also indicate his year of birth was 1855 - not 1852.

The mention of him being born in Buffalo, MO. (which is in Dallas Co., MO.) is completely false. His parents never resided in Dallas County, MO.,
