SMITH:--At her home in Kirksville, March 30, 1896, Mrs. Lucinda Smith.

Lucinda Gideon was born in Wayne county Ky., Dec. 1, 1824. When she was 6 years old she went with her mother to Owen county Ind., where she was married to John Hayward, Oct. 10, 1838. Three children blessed this union. Mr. Hayward died Feb. 13, 1844. She was married to James Smith, Sept. 7, 1849. They had one daughter.

Mrs. Smith became a Christian in 1860 and her faith sustained her to the last.

The writer conducted funeral services at her late residence and her body was laid to rest in the old Kirksville cemetery.
