The Chico Enterprise, Monday Evening, Oct 18, 1915: "Mrs. Minnie Allen Called by Death. Mrs. Minnie Allen, a member of a pioneer Chico family, died at the home of her brother-in-law, C.L. Crowder, on Laburnum street near Third avenue, Chico Vecino, this afternoon at 2 o'clock after an illness of over a month. Mrs. Allen was 33 years of age and a native of this city, where she had resided all her life. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Clayton, prominent ranchers of the Pine creek section.

"Mrs. Allen was educated in the local schools and in a Sacramento business college. For a number of years she held a position as bookkeeper for the Sears-Farnum company and later for the Sears-Masterson company. She was a member of several local fraternal orders and had many friends.

"Deceased is survived by her widower, Oscar Allen; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Clayton; two sisters, Mrs. C.L. Crowder of Chico and Mrs. Clara Coon of Durham, and two brothers, Guy Clayton and Leo Clayton of this city. There are a number of other relatives in this section.

"The funeral will be held from the Crowder home on Laburnum street tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock and interment will be made in the Pine Creek cemetery, near Cana. Rev. George Meeker of the Christian church will officiate."
