Colonel Caleb H Sackett, son of Colonel Richard Sackett and Rachel Holmes, was born on 9 April 1770. He married Jane McMaster.

Caleb was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made in New York City in 1798. He was to inherit his father's estate equally with his brother Nathaniel after financial provision was made for his father's widow Rachel and daughters Betsey and Polly. He was appointed joint executor with his brother Nathaniel and his father's cousin Richard Sackett of Bedford.

Colonel Caleb Sackett was commissioned Paymaster of a Militia Regiment in Tioga County, New York, in 1810. He was commissioned Adjutant of the 95th Regiment in 1817, Major of the 79th Regiment in 1820, and Lieutenant Colonel and Commandant of the 199th Regiment in 1821.
