John Folk Adcock, 79, of Sun Lakes, Ariz., died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1986, in a Mesa Ariz. Hospital. He was born Jan. 26, 1907, on a farm between Eldon and Tuscumbia to John William and Ida May Thomson Adcock. He owned and operated Adcock's Café and Brass Rail in Jefferson City for many years. Prior to that, he had restaurants in Eldon and Neosho.
He was married May 7, 1969, in Jefferson City to Edith Elizabeth Shebeck, who survives at the home.
Mr. Adcock was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Missouri Restaurant Association, of which he was past president. He also was appointed to the Missouri Food Service Hall of Fame in 1972 and received a trophy for his leadership in the National Restaurant Association in 1962.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Sherry Adcock Sparks of Kansas City; Jon Frederick Adcock of Nashville, Tenn., and Joel James Adcock of Austin, Tex.; a sister Hilary Adcock Dunaway of Topeka, Kan.; a granddaughter, Megan Sue Sparks of Lawrence, Kan.; and a niece, Dixie Ann Dunnaway of Kansas City.
Cremation was performed at Valley of the Sun Memorial Park in Chandler, Ariz. And the ashes were scattered over the mountain tops surrounding Phoenix. Memorial services will be held at Sun Lakes.
