Ike Iverson
Funeral services for Isaac George Iverson, who died at his ranch Friday, April 7, 1961, were held Tuesday, April 11 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Winnett.
The Rev. David Iverson, pastor of the church, and a nephew of Mr. Iverson, officiated.
The Rev. Wilbur Armagost of Roundup sang "In the Garden," and "God Will Take Care of You." Mrs. H.W. Tripp was the piano accompanist.
Casket bearers were Torger Sikveland, Robert Weingart, Monte Lund, Henry Hornseth, and Floyd Jackson, all neighbors, and Kjell Brustad of Westby.
Honorary pallbearers included J.S. Conolly, Ed Barnett, Rondall Brady, Dick Hanson, Roy Long, Vern Cook, John Hedman, and Richard Jeffery.
Interment was in a private cemetery on the Tripp ranch in the Flatwillow community.
Isaac was assisting in putting out a grass fire in the Dovetail community, just over the hill from the ranch, last Friday afternoon when he succumbed to a heart attack.
Mr. Iverson, familiarly known as "Ike", was born in Lewistown, Montana, February 20, 1910, the son of Tom and Annette Iverson, early day settlers in the Dovetail community in what is now Petroleum county. He received his schooling in Lewistown and Montana State College, Bozeman. He served as Petroleum county surveyor for a time until the services of a surveyor were no longer required by the county.
On April 21, 1940 he married Ruth Tripp in Winnett and the couple made their home on the ranch in the Dovetail community ever since. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnett and played an important part in the building of the fine new church building in Winnett, completed last December just in time to hold Christmas eve services in the building. He also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors include his wife, his mother, two sons, Issac Lee and Tom Harry, and three daughters, Ruth Anne, Rozella Marie, and Hallie Annette, all at home. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Guri Ann Cook, Winnett; a brother Andrew Iverson, Flatwillow, and several nieces and nephews.

Isaac was the second child of Tom and Anette Andersen-Ruteig Iverson. He grew up on a sheep ranch at Dovetail, Montana, 26 miles north of Winnett. On April 21, 1940 he married Ruth Hallie Tripp at Winnett, Montana. They continued to live on his parents' ranch and then owned it themselves after his father's death in 1947. They had five children: Lee, Anne, Zell, Tom, and Hallie. Lee still operates the family ranch north of Winnett. Daughter Rozella died from cancer at the age of eighteen, in 1964. Isaac died at his home of a massive heart attack which occurred while fighting a range fire. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnett, of which his nephew, David Iverson, was the pastor. He was a beloved brother to Andrew and Guri Ann.
