HENRY CLAUSING 2/23/1898
Henry Clausing died at his home on East Eleventh street this morning at 7:45 o'c lock. He had been sick for 2 years past suffering from asthma. Mr. Clausing was 62 years & 5 months of age. He was born in Germany and came to this country when 24 years of age. The greater part ofthe time he had spent in this city. For many years, he was employed at the Gaylord rolling mill. His last work was at the Wait Cabinet works where he was employed as a night watchman until ill health compelled him to resign. He leaves a wife and 5 children Lydia, Lewis, George, Adolph & Will. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o 'clock standard from the German M. E. church Rev. Koch officiating.

Died on Wednesday morning at 7:45 at his residence on East Eleventh Street after a twelve-week illness from asthma and consumption; he was born on 5 September 1835 in Herminghausen, near Osnabruck, in the former Kingdom of Hannover; 62 years 5 months and 18 days old; in 1858 he married Engel Evers, who he now leaves as a widow; in 1859 they emigrated and settled at Monroe Furnace, and four years later moved to Portsmouth; he was employed for many years at Gaylord roll mills; for the last two and an half years asthma has prevented him from working; he was a member of the German Methodist Church at Monroe Furnace; besides his widow he leaves behind four sons (Louis, Georg, Adolf, and Will) adaughter (Mrs. Elise Gowdy) and thirteen grandchildren; three children preceded him in death; of his brothers and sisters, a sister Mrs. John DeiB, on Tenth Street, survives; the funeral will be this afternoon at 2:00 from the Germany Methodist Church by Rev. Koch.
