Alpheus Palmer of Highland Park, and for over fifty years a resident of Shawnee county, died yesterday afternoon at his home at the corner of Twenty-second and Maryland streets, of old age and a complication of diseases.
Mr. Palmer was born near Marietta, Ohio, February 8, 1831, and in 1855 moved with his parents to Mount Pleasant, Iowa. In 1856 he came to Kansas territory, locating 3 and a half miles southeast of Topeka.
His wife and one daughter, Miss Jessie Jones of San Leandro, California; J.C. Palmer of Paris, Illinois; Earnest L. Palmer, Appleton, Oregon; Mrs. R.A. Randlett, Topeka; Mrs. Emily V. Boutwell of Topeka; Mrs. Josie Stafford, Osage City, all brothers and sisters being with him at the time of his death. Funeral services will be held at his late residence at 2 p.m. today.
Alpheus's first wife was Martha Ann Harris. His second wife was Arabelle J. Eaton
