GEORGE D TOENJES DIED SATURDAY NITE
George Dietrich Toenjes died Saturday evening, Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m. after a brief but serious illness. He was born on June 27, 1889,in Wayne township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Herman Toenjes. He was baptised on Aug. 4, 1889, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith March 24, 1907.
He became seriously ill Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, and although he was brought to the Anamosa hospital he died the next evening.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Margaret Toenjes, of Amber; his brother, John Toenjes, of Ironton; and his sisters, Mrs. Annie Heiken of Anamosa, Mrs. Augusta Folkers of Anamosa, Miss Julia Toenjes of Amber, Mrs. Elisa Herren of Anamosa, Mrs. Clara Meister of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Laura Siebel of Amber. His father, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral rites were held at the Wayne Zion Lutheran church at 1:30 Tuesday, with interment in the Wayne cemetery. The Rev. F. H. Kehren was in charge of the services.
