Stephen was a Revolutionary War pensioner. He and his wife, Rhoda Sherwood Pratt, lived in Sardinia, Erie Co., NY, but later moved to Allegon Co., MI, to live with or near a son. She apparently she obtained a pension after Stephen died at an age of about 93. He was a baptist minister. He was blind as the result of two accidents. One eye was damaged when a twig ran into it in the forest while he was working as a government surveyer after the war. The other was damaged from a chip thrown by a son who was chopping wood. Stephen's application for a pension came before the court in Erie Co., on Oct. 5, 1832. He stated at that time that he had resided in MA. CT, & VT and the last 30 years in NY state.
