James Thrasher, (b. Sept. 17, 1832, d. Jan. 1, 1903) was the son of John T. and Elizabeth Hooker Thrasher who had come to America from Wales. John T. the forebearer of the family in America was a Revolutionary War Soldier. The Thrasher family was one of the early settlers in the Winigan area. The Christain Church and cemetery are located on Thrasher land. Feb. 15, 1855, James married Martha Pickerel (b. Mar. 13, 1836 in Kentucky, d. May 30, 1892) Martha was the daughter of Hillary and Harriet Hoskins Pickerel, of the Winigan Community. The Thrasher family engaged in various businesses in Winigan, having been postmaster, operating dry goods and hardware stores, and in the bank. James and Martha were the parents of: Isaac, Laura Jane, Oliver, Joseph, Stephen, Martha, Minnie, Lillie, and James. Family links: Spouse: Martha M.
