William Lafayette Stowell - Obituary Notes: Information gathered from reading his death certificate at Hayward, Sawyer County, Wisconsin. William was a farmer in the Township of Radisson, also the place of his death. Cause of death listed on William Lafayette Stowell's death certificate Vol 4-A Page 955 in Sawyer County, Wisconsin. Listed as Blood clot in the head with a skull fracture.
On the back side of the certificate it states he was clearing land with a team and had hooked a log to close to the center and one end hooked into the ground causing the other end to come up and strike him in the back of the head.
His place of interment was not listed on the death certificate.
Note: His wife's maiden name Ruth Root is listed on the certificate, but his given name William was missing, he was listed as Lafayette Stowell. Age 74 years 7 months and 17 days.
Information received from the Wayside Cemetery Sexton, William Lafayette Stowell and his wife Ruth Amelia ROOT Stowell are buried next to two of their young children, Lester Howard Stowell and Lillian Stowell. There is no grave markers for William & Ruth Stowell.
