MRS. LUCY KIDWELL DIES

Prominent in Church Work and Much Beloved by All

Mrs. Lucy Dyson Kidwell, a resident of this city for more than years, and much beloved by all who knew her, passed away about 4:00 o'clock early Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John J. Martin, in this city.

Mrs. Kidwell had been in poor health for many months, and had been lovingly and tenderly cared for by her children who reside here. She had appeared somewhat improved recently, but her heart was affected, and her death occurred somewhat unexpectedly when she became suddenly weaker during Wednesday night.

The passing of this good woman saddens the hearts of all of us. Especially will she be missed in her family circle, for she was a most devoted mother, and the children have the heartfelt sympathy of all in their bereavement. She was truly a "Mother in Israel," a faithful member of the M. E. Church, south, since early womanhood, and at all times active in the work of her church until ill health overtook her.

She was born near Williamsburg April 19, 1847, and was therefore nearly 80 years of age. In the year 1869 she was married to Z. R. Kidwell, who departed this life in August 1897. Seven children were born to them of whom four survive - Clarence P. Kidwell of St. Louis, and Floyd E. Kidwell, Mrs. John J. Martin and Mrs. Erna Chadwick, of this city. She also leaves on brother, Wm. Dyson, of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Lilly Farmer of Fulton.

Funeral services will be held at the M. E. church here this (Friday) afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. O. G. Potter, and burial will be in the city cemetery.
