| Birth: | Jun. 19, 1843 Columbia Maury County Tennessee, USA | | Death: | Aug. 26, 1872 Springfield Greene County Missouri, USA |  Maria Polk walker was the first child of nine children of Col. Joseph Knox Walker and Augusta TABB Walker and a great niece of President James K. Polk. As a child she lived in Washington DC and was educated at the Convent of the Visitation in Washington.
She married Brig General Frank C. Armstrong (see family link) on 27 April 1863, Columbia, Ms, in a full military wedding of calvary with Generals Van Dorn and Nathan Forest in attendance.
Two children were born of this marriage: Isabelle "Belle" Armstrong, 1864 in LaGrange, GaK(see link) Know Walker Armstrong, 1865 in New Orleans, La; died 1867 in Memphis, Tn.
In Aug, 1872 for health reasons she had gone to Springfield, Mo where she died 26 Aug 1872 and was buried at the Catholic Cemetery. A search query to the Catholic Cemetery was not successful as they did not have a "marker" on file for her.
