Wilbert "Whip" Alfred Jasper, 82, Augusta, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at 1:14 p.m. at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur.
Mr. Jasper was born Aug. 11, 1928, in Washington, the son of Edwin J. Jasper and wife Mary Elizabeth, nee Riegel.Mr. Jasper served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been employed by Burton Duenke Construction Company as a carpenter and was a member of Local Carpenters Union 1839 for over 50 years. Mr. Jasper was a member of the Elks of Washington and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Augusta. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel Jasper; and one brother-in-law, William "Bill" Menke. He is survived by three sons, Karl Jasper and wife Debra and Bernie Jasper and wife Sally, all of Marthasville, and Glen Jasper, Augusta; one daughter, Brenda Napier and husband Jim, Marthasville; one sister, Mary Ann Menke, Jefferson City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 5, at Immaculate Conception Church, Augusta. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials of Masses or to the church building fund in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385 are preferred.
