Isaac Lawson and Lewis A. McPherson went to Missouri by 1870. Between 1872-75 Isaac L. and brother Elijah Tipton began and ran a General store in Taney County, Missouri near Bradleyville, both putting up $100 to start it. It was located just past what was later known as the Enos (son of Isaac Sr.) McPherson house.


Isaac L. was a Postmaster between 1872 and Aug. 1884. Two years after the old post office had been closed. Isaac then moved his family to Lawrence County and sold his 191 acres to Elijah Tipton on Sept 5, 1885.Isaac L. was also a member of the Missouri House of Representatives.


Description of store given by Elijah's daughter Sarah (Sade). "They carried their first goods on horseback from Chadwick (the Railroad), such as sugar, salt and coffee (no packaged coffee at that time), all brought in sacks. The store was a log corn crib with corn in the bottom and floored in the loft for groceries. They would have a ladder to get their groceries. This store was also the first post office (Bradleyville Post Office had been discontinued) as was known as the "Mac store"


Obituary

Isaac L. McPherson died at his home in Aurora, Mo. Sunday morning May 10, 1913. Deceased was one of the pioneers of southwest Mo.. and the greater part of his life of 80 years he lived in Taney, Christian and Lawrence counties, having been engaged in the mercantile business at Bradleyville, Boaz, Garrison, Marionville and Aurora. For several years, he had been a sufferer from heart disease and hardly a week passed that death did not seem to be near. During the past winter, complications of which he had heretofore been free set up and death was a certainty. His children were all notified and were present at his bedside in the hour of death. They are: Attorney Joe at Mt. Vernon, I. V. at Aurora, John S. of Ozark and Frank of Kansas City. His daughters being Mrs. Josie Trolinger of Adair, Okla. and Mrs. Lula Frazier of Clever, Mo. Grandpa McPherson was a soldier of the civil war, enlisting with Co, K, 14th Kansas Cavalry at Leavenworth, Kansas and serving 3 years. Earlier in life, in 1851, he crossed the great American desert for the gold fields of Cal., returning by ship route via Cuba and Porti Rica. He was a member of the Methodist church at Marionville, a Mason and G. A. R. He was perfectly conscious until 15 or 20 minutes of death and to one and all around his bedside expressed full faith of the redemption, bidding them goodbye and saying he was ready to go to his reward. . . Grandpa McPherson had rounded out his three score years and ten and ten years more. He and his family have warm friends in the county who extend their sympathy in the loss of a noble character and a kind father. He died as he lived a faithful Christian.
